Tourists stranded in Nepal snow

Approximately 400 tourists are reported to be stranded in a remote northern district of Nepal after heavy snowfall. The tourists are said to have been stuck for the past three days in Manang, 200km (125 miles) north-west of the capital Kathmandu. The authorities have no details but say the tourists will be evacuated as soon as the weather clears.

On Tuesday, rescuers found the body of one of 18 mountain climbers missing in the mountains of western Nepal, after they were hit by an avalanche on Mount Kanguru last week. The group included seven French nationals, who are presumed dead together with their 11 guides. A search team rescued four Nepalese porters who survived the avalanche on Sunday.
